DIGITAL PHOTO POLICY
While physical prints will always be special and last the test of time, digital is increasingly attractive for its versatility. However, a photographer's life blood is tied to retaining control over their work and its use. With these considerations, there is no one-size-fits-all digital policy.
For unrestricted use, raw images and their rights may be purchased for a fee. This allows the purchaser to make prints, edit the image, display the image and commercialize the image in any way they see fit. This fee range is vast and appropriately reflects the loss of revenue suffered by the photographer.
For restricted, personal use, the purchaser receives a worked, cropped photo with an unobtrusive watermark in place. If the watermark is cropped out or obstructed, credit must be given. The photo may be used for social media, but cannot be edited and all prints must be ordered through the photographer, who still holds the rights to the image. This fee is typically comparable to a large print.
If you require either of these services, please contact the photographer. Upon agreement of use and fee, simply include "digital" in the print size section of the order form.
